- Yearly / half yearly maintenance check – Your boat / yacht may be brand new, but this is no reason for ignoring maintenance check in power cords. - Using line bags / guards – While marine shrink wrap are applicable in protecting certain essential parts of boats; using sleeve sheets / line guards can be an easy alternative to prevent corrosion that can occur by exposure to environmental elements. All that the users will need to do is cut out the required length of the sheet, slip the cord into it and secure the same at both ends. This is a safer and more effective solution in comparison with leaving the cord exposed to environmental impacts.
- Abiding by the rules while on shore / docked – Lastly, it always works to abide by usage rules. This includes attention to things that may often seem insignificant like unplugging cord without de energizing the load, not securing cords to receptacles using locking rings etc.
