Application Of Boat Hull Protector

To save the bottom of your boat while sailing on the water, you need boat hull protector or keel guard. When boating on the routine beaches on shell bottoms, your boat requires a product that can protect your hull. The keel or boat hull protector has the tendency to increase the top speed of the small boats.

The hull protector should be arranged five to six inches above the water level on the bow and the least point of the hull must be two to three feet beyond. Before the boat repair, an adhesive should be applied to the surface and the temperature should be between 650F to 1000F. This temperature is for the boat hull and not with ambience temperature. The boat hull should maintain the temperature before the application of adhesive.

Installation of boat hull protector

.    There are few steps of installation to be followed before application of protector:

Before installation of Keel guard, you have to chisel the surface of the boat. Any type of wax or mold of fibre glass must be removed from the boat. For best removal, you can use pads of the 3M quality of scotch brite. If your boat is bottom painted then first expose the paint before installing hull guard.
Cleaning of an area is the must with alcohol using a fresh rag or paper towels. Avoid using cleaners which are petroleum based.
.    Apply a thin layer of 3M Keel primer available with the kit. Now cautiously fix the keel guard and tightly press with your hand.
